Rudyard Kipling"
“When you're left wounded on Afganistan's plains and
the women come out to cut up what remains, Just roll to your rifle
and blow out your brains,
And go to your God like a soldier”
General Douglas MacArthur"
“We are not retreating. We are advancing in another direction.”
“It is fatal to enter any war without the will to win it.” “Old soldiers never die; they just fade away.
“The soldier, above all other people, prays for peace, for he must suffer and be the deepest wounds and scars of war.”
“May God have mercy upon my enemies, because I won't .” “The object of war is not to die for your country but to make the other bastard die for his.
“Nobody ever defended, there is only attack and attack and attack some more.
“It is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died. Rather we should thank God that such men lived.
The Soldier stood and faced God
Which must always come to pass
He hoped his shoes were shining
Just as bright as his brass
"Step forward you Soldier,
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My Church have you been true?"
"No, Lord, I guess I ain't
Because those of us who carry guns
Can't always be a saint."
I've had to work on Sundays
And at times my talk was tough,
And sometimes I've been violent,
Because the world is awfully rough.
But, I never took a penny
That wasn't mine to keep.
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep,
The Soldier squared his shoulders and said
And I never passed a cry for help
Though at times I shook with fear,
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fears.
If you've a place for me here,
Lord, It needn't be so grand,
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't, I'll understand."
There was silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod
As the Soldier waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now, you Soldier,
You've borne your burden well.
Walk peacefully on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in Hell."
Someone asked me whether we will lose Pedro Branca
Friday, May 23, 2008
My answer was a question and an answer, who ever occupies and adminsters the area would be declared having sovereignity over the area. That question was asked over lunch this afternoon. Malaysia had not administered nor occupied that island for since the British ruled over us. This was what happened as in the case of Ligitan and Sipadan. There are at least four more islands that Indonesia might lose if the principle of continuous administration - employed by the ICJ in awarding Sipadan and Ligitan to Malaysia after both claimants failed to present solid legal proof of ownership over the two islets off the northeastern tip of Indonesia's East Kalimantan province - is applied i.e principle of continuous administration. Therefore this lunch hour answer became reality today. Singapore has sovereignity over Pedra Branca. There is no more "Pulau Batu Putih" as it ceases to exist as of 7.05 pm today. Read the judgement in PDF format here
I also knew that this would happen as Jeff Ooi had pointed out Malaysia's legal defence escapades in November 20, 2007 09:11 PM, where Jeff Ooi states in his post,"Malaysia uses plagiarist's blog to claim Pedra Branca at ICJ?" Here is an extract, "We all know that the Abdullah Administration hates blogs and bloggers, incessantly calling them lies and liars.
We also know that in the last three weeks, among others, Foreign Affairs Minister Syed Hamid Albar and Attorney-General Abdul Gani Patail -- and the AG's son, junior Federal Counsel Faezul Adzra Tan Sri Gani Patail (who graduated from UiTM, September 2005) -- have been setting camp in The Hague arguing Malaysia's case to lay claim on Pulau Batu Putih, or what Singapore calls Pedra Branca. But, is this a subliminal yet hypocritical reflection of the Abdullah Administration that it truly endorses blogs and bloggers?
AG's son, junior Federal Counsel Faezul Adzra Tan Sri Gani Patail (who graduated from UiTM, September 2005) -- have been setting camp in The Hague arguing Malaysia's case to lay claim on Pulau Batu Putih. This I find interesting, did Faezul Adzra pass his CLP exams ? I do not think he sat for it, as he is from UiTM. Was Malaysia barren of worthy men of intellect, that instead nincompops represented us to lose our sovereignity over "Pulau Batu Putih" ?
Well, anyway, the MSM is going to spin this as a "win, win" situation as mentioned by Rais Yatim. It was no win, win situation as I am feeling very depressed and I am sure alot of other Malaysians are feeling like me too. We lost a part of our land without going to war. It was lost by the incompetent politicians of UMNO with their mediocre and incompetent leadership, bordering on criminality. Someone should fall on the sword. Would someone who is responsible for this unmitigated disaster please oblige?
